1. Who we are
This Privacy Notice explains how TAPTENNIS, LLC (“Half Staff Today”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use the Half Staff Today website and service (the “Service”). Half Staff Today is a product and service of TAPTENNIS, LLC. The data controller is TAPTENNIS, LLC.
2. Personal data we collect
Account data includes your email address, account identifier, hashed password when you register with a password, and basic information supplied by your sign-in provider. Subscription data includes the federal or state locations you follow and the account associated with those alerts. Usage data includes pages viewed and a browser-stored identifier used to distinguish visits. We also process support communications and essential browser storage for authentication.
Location information
If you allow location access, your browser provides coordinates to identify your state. Those coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim reverse-geocoding service. You can decline location access and search for a state instead.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We use account and subscription data to provide the Service and manage your requested alerts (performance of a contract). We send alerts based on your subscription choices, which you can withdraw at any time. We process data for security, abuse prevention, service analytics, and customer support (legitimate interests or performance of a contract), and to comply with applicable law (legal obligation). We do not sell or rent your personal data.
4. Data sharing
We share personal data with service providers that support cloud hosting, data storage, authentication, and email delivery, and with professional advisers when necessary. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes information under its own privacy terms. Third-party services that provide location lookup or flag images receive the requests your browser makes to them. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
5. International transfers
Service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards must apply to those transfers.
6. Data retention
We retain account and subscription data for as long as needed to provide the Service. If you request deletion, we will delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is needed for legal obligations, security, or abuse prevention. Backup copies may persist for a limited additional period before being overwritten. Removing an alert subscription does not itself delete your account.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; restrict or object to processing; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights. We aim to respond within one month, subject to applicable law and verification of your request.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies and browser storage
We use essential cookies and local storage to support sign-in and a browser identifier for visit counting. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear this data through your browser, which may sign you out or reset the visit identifier.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The date above indicates the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate.
