1. The Service
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Half Staff Today website and service (the “Service”), provided by TAPTENNIS, LLC (“Half Staff Today”, “we”, “us”). Half Staff Today is a product and service of TAPTENNIS, LLC. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. The Service provides U.S. flag-status information, location-based email alerts, and public feeds, an API, and an embeddable widget. It is currently provided free of charge.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity under your account. New email-and-password accounts must confirm their email address before signing in. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes; send spam or misuse alert subscriptions; infringe third-party rights; upload malware; interfere with security or availability; or bypass technical limits or access controls. Public API, feed, and widget use is permitted, but requests must not disrupt the Service. Do not misrepresent our data or imply official government endorsement. We may rate-limit or block abusive access.
4. Information you submit
You are responsible for information or source material you submit and for having the rights to share it. You retain ownership of your submissions and grant us a limited, worldwide license to host, store, process, and display them as necessary to provide and improve the Service.
5. Intellectual property and attribution
The Service’s software, design, documentation, and Half Staff Today branding are owned by TAPTENNIS, LLC or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. If you redistribute our status data or embed our widget, link back to halfstaff.today. No ownership rights are transferred to you.
6. Alerts and subscriptions
You can subscribe to federal or state alerts and remove those subscriptions through Manage subscriptions or the unsubscribe link in an alert email. Email delivery and the timing of status changes are not guaranteed. Alert subscriptions are not paid billing subscriptions; Half Staff Today currently has no purchases or paid plans.
7. Service availability and disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free information, complete coverage, or timely alerts. Half Staff Today is independent and is not affiliated with the U.S. government or any state government. Always consult the issuing authority for an official order and its effective dates. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TAPTENNIS, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold TAPTENNIS, LLC harmless from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your submissions, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, pose a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly violate our policies. You may stop using the Service at any time and contact us to request account closure. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to legal retention obligations.
11. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, subject to applicable law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are subject to applicable law and any non-waivable consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms removes protections or access to courts that applicable law gives you. Please contact us first if you have a dispute so we can try to resolve it.
13. Assignment and force majeure
You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control, to the extent permitted by law.
